Despite vaccination and other public health measures, COVID-19 remains a leading cause of death and hospitalisation in Victoria.
In the past week, there have been 11,192 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Victoria. This is an increase of 2,393 cases compared to the previous week.
There are currently 449 people in hospital with COVID-19 in Victoria. This is an increase of 133 people compared to the previous week.
Sadly, there have been 27 deaths from COVID-19 reported in Victoria in the past week. This brings the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Victoria to 4,298.
The increase in cases, hospitalisations and deaths is a reminder that COVID-19 is still a serious threat to the community.
It is important to stay up to date with your vaccinations, get tested if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, and wear a mask in indoor public places.
