Sinner sets up Kyrgios clash after dismissing Djokovic
Sinner praised his display against the 21-time Grand Slam champion
Italian says he is a better player than 12 months ago
Jannik Sinner was full of praise for his performance after beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets today. The Italian will now face Nick Kyrgios in the second round.
Speaking after the match, Sinner said: "I can be proud of what I've achieved here. Novak is a great champion and I knew I would have to play my best tennis to beat him. I'm really happy with the way I played and I'm looking forward to the next round.
Sinner says he is a better player than when he last faced Djokovic at Wimbledon 12 months ago. "I've improved a lot in the last year and I'm more confident in my game," he said.
The Italian also praised his team, saying they had helped him to prepare both physically and mentally for the match.
Sinner is now one of the favorites to win the tournament, which included the likes of Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev.
