Actor-Turned-Politician Makes Announcement

Permission for Shooting Yet to Be Received

During a Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce event on Wednesday, actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi announced that the filming for his long-delayed project, Ottakkomban, would commence on September 6.

Gopi also revealed that he had requested permission to commence shooting for the film from Amit Shah, but had not yet received it.

Gopi, who serves as a Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, said that he had informed Shah that he would need to take some time off from his ministerial duties to complete the film.

The actor-politician said that Shah had initially thrown away the request, but later agreed to consider it.

Gopi's announcement was met with mixed reactions from the film industry.

  • Some welcomed the news, saying that it would be a relief to finally see the film completed after years of delays.
  • Others expressed concern that Gopi's political commitments would interfere with the filming process.

Gopi has been a vocal supporter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has often campaigned for the party during elections.

He was appointed as a Union Minister of State in 2019.

Ottakkomban is a historical drama based on the life of a legendary Kerala warrior.

The film has been in the works for several years, but has faced numerous delays due to various reasons, including financial constraints.

Gopi is expected to play the lead role in the film.

The film's release date has not yet been announced.
